I am Carl Jones, known as The Caveman, a former police detective and South West Regional President of the Professional Speaking Association, and I deliver keynotes and training on stress, burnout and resilience for Bristol organisations planning a staff conference, an event or a training day.
I am based in Cheltenham, which puts Bristol well under an hour away up the M5, so a Bristol event is a straightforward day booking for me with no overnight stay and no hotel bill, and travel is charged at plain mileage only. It also means I can come in beforehand to meet your organising team and understand what your people are actually dealing with, so the session is built around them rather than delivered off the shelf.
Bristol has one of the largest financial services, insurance and technology communities outside London, and that is exactly where I do some of my most valuable work, including a series of training sessions for Bristol-based Redcentral that received great feedback from the teams who took part. Long hours, constant change, smaller teams carrying heavier workloads and the pressure of being always available are pushing a lot of capable people towards burnout, and a staff conference or training day is often the moment an organisation decides to do something about it.
As South West Regional President of the Professional Speaking Association for 2025–26, I am closely connected to the speaking and events community across the region, which is useful if you are building a programme with several speakers and would like introductions to other trusted professionals.
Each keynote is built on lived experience, backed by practical frameworks and tailored to your audience, whether that is a leadership team at a Bristol insurer or a whole-company conference for a fast-growing tech business.
A powerful framework for understanding stress, personality types, and leading personal transformation — inspired by our evolutionary psychology.
A blunt, memorable, and highly effective tool for preventing burnout, supporting a return to work, and building lasting resilience in teams.
An empowering session that helps people recognise the early signs of burnout and cultivate genuine resilience in their daily routines and working life.
Carl delivered a powerful, authentic session that resonated deeply with our delegates. His ability to blend personal vulnerability with practical takeaways is rare and genuinely impactful. We had delegates asking for his contact details.
Carl's knowledge and passion around the subject of PTSD is second to none. His SLAP talk left our audience feeling awe-inspired, emotional, and motivated to make a change. We received fantastic feedback and can't wait to work with him again.
Yes. I have delivered a series of training sessions for Redcentral in Bristol, which received great feedback, and as PSA South West Regional President I work across the region regularly.
Yes. I am based in Cheltenham, under an hour from Bristol, so Bristol events are straightforward day bookings for me, and I also speak across Bath, Somerset and the wider South West.
For day events I charge plain mileage and nothing more. If an event needs an overnight stay, travel and expenses are agreed with you in advance.
I recommend booking two to three months ahead, particularly for conference season. If you are facing a last-minute gap or an urgent need, please get in touch anyway, because I may well be able to help.
Staff conferences, away days, leadership events and dedicated training days are where I do most of my work, from a single keynote to a full day combining a talk with practical training.
Yes. Many organisations pair a keynote with a practical session on the CNW Framework or the SLAP Technique, so that managers leave with tools they can use with their teams the following week. You can see the options on my training page.
I speak across Bristol, Bath, Somerset and the wider South West, and I am also the local speaker for Gloucestershire, just up the M5.
