At the end of 2025, I was notified that my book The Caveman Principles had been entered in the People’s Book Prize.
Yes, my book was good enough to be considered for an award, well, a potential award if the judges think that it is good enough. Doing some silly dance and calling all my friends meant that I was already a winner. I mean, who wouldn’t want their book to be considered for such a competition with a chance of getting a great accolade?
For months, I have been proud of the fact that it has gotten this far. But then I realised that there is work to be done if I want it to win and can I ask you to read on.

The Work Starts
This is where so many people can help. As an author, regardless of the Caveman title, it is embarrassing and uncomfortable to ask your readers, friends, and family to support your book. But I have realised this is what I have to do. Promoting the book is hard enough, but to ask people to vote for it takes some guts.
You see, this award is not voted on, judged, or decided by a panel of experts. No, it is the decision and effort to click and make a comment from the readers of those titles, that are all listed in the category. And wow, my little book is up against some stiff competition!

So the book has been sitting for the last few months, collecting some wonderful feedback from those who have ventured into the website of the competition and voted for it!
Shocked and proud is nothing when you log into the website and read some wonderful comments about your own work. These people have made me feel wonderful and I feel that perhaps I do have a chance to win! But I may have left it too late to ask.

You see, whilst others have been garnering support for their book, I have been letting fate do its work. But I think I have to accept that I do need to do some outreach and ask you to help by supporting and voting. Many of you reading this post already have a copy of my book, and if you enjoyed it, can I ask that you vote, and we can see if my book can actually win?
Voting closes at the end of April. Thursday, 30th April, is the last and final day I get to see if this book can really get an award. If it does get a mention, I will owe it all to my readers, supporters and of course, you, my many friends and followers.
Thank you for voting and thank you for being part of this amazing author (business) journey!
I will keep you updated and of course, please do help by sharing this post, the competition webpage and talk about it lots and lots! I have everything crossed that this might actually work!
